Education and worker training plays a vital role in the success of area industries.  Florence Darlington Technical College, including its Southeastern Institute of Manufacturing and Technology (SiMT), provides  worker training and re-training with the most up-to-date technology and resources.  SiMT capabilities include rapid prototyping, interactive three-dimensional digital video training, sophisticated machine tool and Computer Numerical Control (CNC) training and services, and the National Robotics Training Center of Excellence. Coker College in Hartsville was ranked by U.S. News & World Report in the Top Tier of Best Baccalaureate Colleges for 2010.  Nearby Francis Marion University offers undergraduate and graduate degrees in more than 30 areas of study.
